Social Justice Practice

Catalog description

This course introduces students to the concept of social justice and related concepts such as power, oppression, liberation, and privilege. This class highlights the ways an interest in social justice can be parlayed into professional development through skills such as community organizing and grant writing. Through surveying the different philosophical approaches to justice, the course decouples social justice from its contemporary political baggage. Students will observe injustice in various social sectors and develop models to address and remedy systemic injustices.
