What’s valuable about democracy? What does democracy stand for? What undermines or impedes democracy? This course explores philosophical approaches to the promise and challenges of democracy. Topics covered may include oppression, privilege, inequality, mass incarceration, voter disenfranchisement, political communication, civic engagement, and alternative systems of government. May not be taken under the P/NP option.
