Catalog description

This course covers historical and contemporary debates related to immigration, crime, and immigration enforcement. We will investigate and reveal the widespread myth that associates immigrants with criminality, critique the political arguments used to justify merging of criminal and immigration law, and discuss the consequences of contemporary immigration enforcement for communities. Equivalent course offered as CJS/LAL 214. Course repeat policies will apply. Formerly CJS/LAL 360a20. Prerequisites: Not for credit if earned credit in CJS/LAL 360a20.
