Catalog description

This course explores the histories of Iraq, Iran, and the Persian Gulf before and after the discovery of oil. Students will begin by studying the region in the nineteenth century, before learning about how oil production and consumption have shaped urban life, identity, labor, and politics regionally and globally. Prerequisites: Not for Credit if earned credit in HIS 377.
