Social and Cultural Geography

Catalog description

Using perspectives from social and cultural geography, students will examine how places are produced by hierarchical social systems (e.g., racism, patriarchy, heterosexism), with a focus on U.S. society. Students will also study how marginalized populations have been active producers of space, creating places that support their communities and challenge inequalities. Prerequisites: GEO 135 or 142. Minimum of 30 hours completed.
