Catalog description

This offering is an introductory language course in modern Israeli Hebrew. It provides students with the basics of speaking, reading, writing, and listening to Hebrew. No prior experience with Hebrew is necessary. The course begins with the Hebrew alphabet, and progresses using interactive dialogue; reading, writing, and listening activities; role-playing, and group activities to promote a level of comfort with conversational Hebrew. Grammatical concepts are covered in the context of spoken language. Elements of modern Israeli history, culture and society are integrated into the course. This course prepares students to travel to Israel and carry on a simple everyday conversation, such as one might have with in a store or restaurant.
