Money, Banking and Financial Markets

Catalog description

This is an introduction to money and banking. The course assumes that students are fully conversant with micro and macro-economics and the basics of the financial system in the U.S. Students will obtain a working knowledge of the principles of the U.S. monetary system, the banking system and its regulation, and the conduct of monetary policy. Students will learn to apply aggregate supply and demand in the analysis of business cycle fluctuations and inflation and to apply supply and demand analysis to the financial and money markets. Students will also learn the role of government policies in markets and macro outcomes. Prerequisite(s): BA 211 and BA 212 .
