Catalog description

This course is designed and intended for those individuals who may need to know the mechanical-electrical system of the heart. Included are definitions and descriptions of EKG configurations, recognition and interpretation of dysrythmias. Identification and an explanation of common cardiac congenital anomalies as well as the effects of pharmacological compounds upon the heart’s conduction system are discussed. The successful student will be prepared for performing the duties of a monitoring technician or an EKG technician through clinical experience obtained at an area hospital. Pre-requisite(s): High school biology.
