Catalog description
This course is the first term of a two-term medical general physics sequence designed to meet requirements for students interested in a pre-med program.Topics include classical mechanics, gravitation and fluids, and oscillations. Throughout the course, the basic ideas of physics are stressed and presented in depth, particularly as they apply to the life sciences and medicine. Sufficient mathematics and algebra are presented so that the student can gain insight into both theory and application through problem solving. The laboratories are largely quantitative and stress applications. This course is not recommended for students lacking strong arithmetic andalgebraic skills. High school level physics and math preparation is recommended.
