Hudson Valley Community College · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
This course is an introduction to the basic principles and theory for electrical distribution and control systems associated with a manufacturing facility. Topics include electrical distribution components: transformers, circuit control and protection devices (fuses and circuit breakers), conductors, major electrical loads (induction motors, lighting, and heating) and distribution equipment (electrical substations, MCC’s, control panels). The purpose of this course is not to provide an in-depth analysis of each topic but to provide an overview for the entry-level Mechatronics technician. Pre-requisite(s): ECMN 120 Electrical Theory for Renewable Energy or ECMN 101 Direct Current Theory and ECMN 102 Alternating Current Theory
