Catalog description

This course provides the student with the knowledge and ability to recognize characteristics of life threating patient conditions, and course content focuses on the technologist’s role in managing emergencies that arise during interventional procedures. Course content includes: pharmacology, venipuncture and administration of diagnostic contrast agents and intravenous medications used in the cardiac catheterization lab. The student will identify the equipment necessary to handle emergencies and assess and administer emergency care procedures. Course content provides strategies for patient assessment prior to, during, and following the completion of interventional examinations. Lab values and physiologic monitoring will be covered.
