Catalog description

This one-semester course provides a comprehensive overview of the basic principles of immunology. It examines the tissues, cells, and molecules of the immune system; innate and acquired immunity; and the structure and function of immunoglobulins and the nature of their interactions with antigens. Topics of altered immune function, like autoimmunity, immunodeficiencies, tumor immunology, and transplantation immunology are discussed. Pre-requisite(s): BIOL 151 General Biology II or BIOL 191 Biology II .
