A survey of American history and the history of the United States to 1865. Topics include European colonial expansion in the Western Hemisphere; the contributions of European, Amer-Indian and African peoples in the New World; the rise of slavery; the American Revolution, the Constitutional Convention, the Jeffersonian and Jacksonian eras; Antebellum culture, Manifest Destiny, crisis of the Union, and the Civil War.
