Catalog description

MAT Special Education Practicum 1 builds on the concepts presented in the Orientation course. Candidates continue to develop their knowledge of the job expectations of a special education teacher and the teaching profession. This course will focus on preparing education professionals to better understand the characteristics of highly effective special education teachers. The content-focused observation component (at least two classroom observations) will be based upon the national content standards (Council of Exceptional Children-CEC) as well as the Teacher Excellence and Support System (TESS)/ Charlotte Danielson Framework for Teaching. The collection and reflection of content portfolio artifacts will be emphasized.
