Special Topics in Women's Studies

Catalog description

This is an advanced course which explores a theme or problem area in the field of women's studies. The course will examine themes and topics of contemporary and historical interest in the study of women and their contributions across the disciplines and in the culture at large. Possible topic areas include Issues in Women's Health; Women and Religion; Gender and Science; Women and Work; Cultural Expression of Gender; Women in the Third World; History of Women in America; Women and the Media; History of the Women's Movement; Gender and Civil Rights Legislation; Gender and Language; Women in the Arts. Readings will center on current research in the study of gender and may represent a variety of methodologies and disciplines. Because topics and research studied will change each semester, WST 296 may be repeated for a total of six credits.
