Advanced Gas Metal Arc Welding

Catalog description

This course studies the process of Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) safety, machine maintenance, techniques and procedures. Advanced skills and abilities will be developed to prepare students for the American Welding Society (AWS) Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) qualification tests. The course involves welding a variety of carbon steel structural metals in addition to stainless steel metals in the flat (1G, 1F) horizontal (2G, 2F), vertical (3G, 3F), overhead (4G, 4F), and pipe-specific (5F/5G/6G) positions. Course instruction will also include the understanding of all Non-Destructive/Destructive Testing and skill development in joint preparation of structural metals using Blueprint Reading, Oxyfuel Cutting (OFC), Plasma Arc Cutting (PAC), Air Carbon Arc Cutting (CAC-A), and Sawing/Shearing Machinery.
