Catalog description

This course studies the process of Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) safety, machine maintenance, techniques and procedures. Entry-level skills and abilities will be developed to prepare students for the American Welding Society (AWS) Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) qualification tests. The course involves Blueprint Reading and welding a variety of carbon and stainless steel in addition to aluminum metals in the flat (1G, 1F) and horizontal (2G, 2F) positions. Course instruction will also include the understanding of all joint/edge preparations of metals used with the Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) process and will include Destructive/Non-Destructive Testing to D1.1/D1.1M Structural Welding Code.
