Catalog description

This course imparts an understanding of the components, principles, and operation of digital imaging systems found in diagnostic radiology. Factors that impact image acquisition, display, archiving and retrieval are discussed. Included are the importance of optimal imaging standards, discussion of a problem solving technique for image evaluation and the factors that can affect image quality. Content requires familiarization with the distinction between optimal and suboptimal quality radiographic images as well as methods of improvement. Quality Control and maintenance is also mentioned as a way of maintaining optimal quality images. Advanced modalities and emerging technologies are briefly discussed.
