Nursing Care Concepts: Acute II

Catalog description

This course in medical-surgical nursing focuses on care of clients with acute alterations in health. Critical thinking pathways (clinical judgment) will be applied utilizing concepts of acid-base balance, elimination, fluid and electrolytes, inflammation, oxygenation, and perfusion. Campus laboratory experiences allow the student to practice more complex psychomotor skills. Planned faculty-supervised experiences in acute care facilities provide the student the opportunity to implement a more sophisticated knowledge base and skill level. The students also plan and deliver a supervised group health teaching project in the community. Clinical experiences are complemented by observational experiences in specialty areas.
