Catalog description

This is the second of four courses in the Cisco Networking Academy designed to provide you with classroom and laboratory experience in current and emerging networking technology. This course describes the architecture, components, and operations of routers and switches in a small network. You will learn how to configure a router and a switch for basic functionality. By the end of this course, you will be able to configure and troubleshoot routers and switches and resolve common issues with virtual LANs, and inter-VLAN routing in both IPv4 and IPv6 networks. Instruction includes, but is not limited to: network terminology and protocols specifications, LANs, WANs, Ethernet, TCP/IP Addressing Protocol, static routing, dynamic routing, default routes, and the network administrator’s role and function. Particular emphasis is given to the use of problem-solving to solve networking problems.
