Catalog description

This course expands on the study of functions that began in College Algebra, specifically radical, piece-wise and absolute value functions, which are studied from a symbolic, as well as graphical perspective. Also covered are the definition of the six trigonometric functions, their graphs, their relationships to one another, and ways in which they can be used in a variety of applications. Specific applications include triangles, conic relations, vectors, polar coordinates and polar equations. The course is designed to prepare college students for the study of calculus. A graphing calculator is required for this course (instruction will be based on a TI 89).
