Special Topics in English Studies

Catalog description

This is a course in Literature that is appropriate for students in the second year of college. The course advances strategies of research, writing, and interpretation. The particular topic of the course introduces or advances study of written, oral, visual, or multimedia texts pertinent to any field within Literary studies, including critical theory, cultural studies, and textual production. The study might include formal qualities, historical frameworks, theoretical groundings, secondary literature, cultural dimensions, linguistic features, rhetorical characteristics, symbolic implications, literary elements, or aesthetic applications pertinent to a defined group of texts. Because topics and research studied change each semester, LITR 296 may be repeated with a different topic for a total of six credits toward graduation.
