Catalog description

This is an advanced course in film studies which focuses on various genres and topics such as the Horror Film, Women in Film, Film Noir, Science Fiction Cinema, The Films of Alfred Hitchcock and so on. Each film will be considered by examining the constituent elements and formal qualities that are intrinsic to that particular film and the genre, as well as by studying the relationship of one film to another and to the societies from which they developed. Because topics and films studied will change each semester, FILM 296 may be repeated for a total of six credits toward graduation.
