EMT 237 is fourth in a sequence of five courses designed to prepare students for Paramedic licensure. Students must successfully complete all courses to qualify for licensure examinations. EMT 237 utilizes cognitive, psychomotor, and affective standard objectives specified in the U.S. Department of Transportation 2010 EMT-Paramedic National Standard Curriculum and the National EMS Education Standards. This semester is the trauma division as students learn structure and function of trauma systems, kinematics, and the implementation of care plans for trauma victims. The semester concludes with a discussion of ambulance operations and medical incident command. Didactic formats include lecture and group learning.
