Catalog description
This course is a one-semester introduction to biochemical topics for students who plan to pursue allied health or some pre-professional professions or for students who desire a general background in biochemistry. The biochemistry and metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, nucleic acids, and enzymes are introduced and discussed. The course incorporates both a clinical approach to biochemical systems, as well as a study of their chemical aspects, such as structure-function relationships, kinetics, and energetics.
