Genetics and Society

Catalog description

This course is designed to help non-science majors learn the basic principles of molecular genetics, inheritance, and biotechnology. Throughout, concepts are placed in societal context. Students learn about biological technologies such as genetic engineering, DNA profiling, cloning, and more. In addition to learning how these technologies work, students will explore their ethical, social, health, and environmental implications. Students can earn life science lab credit through concurrent or subsequent enrollment in BIOL 117.
