Catalog description

Completion of, or concurrent enrollment in, ART 102 is suggested. This course introduces the basic principles of black and white darkroom photography and provides the transitional thread into digital photography. Students explore technical and aesthetic concerns of creating fine art photography such as: film and digital camera selection, exposure control, image processing, editing and composition. The course integrates an historical overview of photography. Health and safety issues will be addressed as an integral part of this course. This course meets for 6 clock hours per week. Students must provide an SLR 35 mm film camera equipped with manual capabilities to change apertures and shutter speeds. DSLR cameras with RAW file format will be available for classroom loan or students may provide their own
