Catalog description

Completion of ART 104 is recommended. An introduction to basic painting techniques, processes, and color principles for those who have minimal painting experience. Students learn the basics of handling oil and/or acrylic paint and use brushes to explore a variety of techniques. Students study fundamentals of composition using various subject matter including: still life, landscape, and abstraction. Major art historical influences in painting serve as reference points for the creation process. Health and safety in the art studio is integral to this course. This course meets 6 hours for 3 hours credit.
