Catalog description

This course introduces fundamental concepts and techniques of drawing using a variety of black and white media. While the course emphasizes descriptive drawing techniques gained from observation of geometric and organic objects (observational drawing), it also addresses interpretive approaches. Students develop vocabulary, critical analysis, and learn from both contemporary and historic examples. Health and safety in the art studio is integral to this course. This course meets 6 hours for 3 hours credit.
