Soil Fertility and Fertilizers

Catalog description
This course provides a comprehensive overview of the interactions between soils and fertilizers. The natural functions of soils, and the ways in which fertilizers and other inputs can be used to increase plant production, will be equally emphasized. The course will culminate in student development of a soil management plan that is based on course learnings. Whenever necessary, students are reintroduced to the relevant science and math and then shown how to apply these concepts to soil function and fertilizer application. Soil Fertility is designed to prepare students to make basic agricultural management decisions regarding soils and fertilizers.
