Catalog description

The subject of statics develops methods of identifying and analyzing the forces and torques acting on physical systems that are at rest (equilibrium). Topics will include identification of basic forces acting on a system, drawing free body diagrams, and application of Newton’s Second Law, vector algebra, work, energy, and mometum to systems of isolated particles and rigid bodies to derive the stresses on the system.
