Catalog description

This course is an in-depth study of several classes of biomolecules: proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids. The course emphasizes the chemistry that dictates the structure and functions of biological molecules. Focus is given to: 1) amino acid and protein chemistry; 2) enzyme activity; and, 3) combination of the major classes of biological molecules to form biological membranes. Three hours of lecture, three hours of laboratory per week.
