Catalog description

Surveys areas of diversity including cultural, ethnic, socio- economic status, and intellectual levels. Focuses on instructional literacy strategies that meet the academic and functional needs of diverse learners including struggling readers and English- language learners. Gives teacher candidates the skills to use literacy-based instruction in classrooms with a broad range of student abilities. Includes strategies for teaching students with reading deficits, and introduces theories of first- and second- language acquisition.
