Over the last three decades, Americans have grown increasingly unequal in terms of income and wealth. At the same time, it has become increasingly hard for less-well off American to "live the American Dream" by moving up the economic ladder. This course asks: What does economic inequality look like in the US? What are its causes and social consequences? How does it impact the quality of American democracy, and what can we do about it?
