Catalog description
An examination of the history, theories, methods, and materials of modern sculpture. The focus of this course will be on the conceptual and technological developments of sculpture including an exploration of sculpture from a diversity of cultures and an investigation into sculpture's role as a vehicle for social, political, cultural, and personal expression. An emphasis is placed on skill development, the ability to control media, and the exploration of communication and personal expression through the aesthetic object. (CSU/UC) (CSU-C1, IGETC-3A, Cal-GETC-3A) ***A required fee of $55 will be charged for materials.
