Puppetry

Catalog description
This course explores how theoretical concepts and considerations can be transformed into embodied artistic activity. Fall 2026 topic will be Puppetry. We will explore global examples of puppet performance histories and styles, related performance studies theory, and examples of applied puppetry for purposes from political protest to scientific study. We will also design and craft puppets, including rod, lantern, and shadow puppets in relation to a fall mainstage TDPS production. Prerequisite:Any 200-level course in the following departments; FMS, ART, GWSS, AMS, ARH, HUM, GLS, ENG, or THD, except courses MUS-220, MUS-221, THD-200 and THD-201.
