Catalog description
This course offers an introduction to Latinx literature in the United States through discussions of four novels, representing distinct moments in Latinx fiction: 1) the 19th-century Californian experience, 2) the Chicano experience, 3) the Cuban-American diaspora, and 4) the contemporary Dominican diaspora. Texts are in English (with some Spanish) while discussions and written work will be in Spanish. Students cannot take this course after taking a seminar course in literature. (SPN 377, 379, 383, 385, 386 or 395 on literature). Prerequisite: Spanish 285. PETRUS.
