Regimes and Resistance

Catalog description
Using a global and comparative lens, this seminar will investigate why and how contention emerges, develops, and succeeds or fails in different types of government. It will explain the structural and cultural factors that shape various forms of resistance - mobilizations centered around modest policy reforms to armed insurrections. Prerequisite: SOC-111 and two 200-level SOC courses. QUINSAAT

Section notes
Writing intensive. Faculty will give substantial oral and/or written feedback to students on writing assignments and provide students with opportunities to apply that feedback to future assignments or revisions. At least 50% of the final grade is based on graded writing assignments.
