Catalog description

This course focuses on foundational skills for composing original music. Beginning with explorations of creative processes and proceeding through a series of original compositions, course projects build toward a final public recital of new compositions where all components are managed by students. Specific skills include creation of initial musical ideas, development of rhythms and melodies, expanding possibilities for pitch and harmony, basic instrumentation, and traditional music notation skills. Prerequisite: Music 112. E. MCINYTRE, ROMMEREIM.
