Catalog description
Taylor Swfit. In this course, we will use Taylor Swift's music and career as a lens to engage with questions of composition, legacy, industry, fandom, copyright, and much more. By examining her music and her overall career, this course uses the emerging field of Taylor Swift studies to situate her within the music industry, pairing each era with a different big-picture topic, such as genre, lyricism, copyright law, and prodigy. In doing so, this course gives students the tools to analyze and contextualize popular music, while gaining a deeper understanding of music in the age of Taylor Swift. Prerequisite: None.
