Black Feminist Thought

This course is a study of the major contributions of Black feminist thinkers to social justice movements, popular culture, and the field of Gender, Women's, & Sexuality Studies in the United States. In addition to reading foundational texts in Black Women's Studies, class participants will consider more recent work by Black feminist thinkers, activists, and artists to understand the numerous ways that the intellectual tradition of Black feminist theory and action has contributed to the project of creating a more just and equitable society. Prerequisite: GWS 111 and GWS 249.
