Catalog description

Beginning with the French Revolution and continuing until today, this course investigates the many social, political, and artistic movements that have defined France over the past two centuries. The course studies a variety of paintings, texts, documents, and films, to understand phenomena as diverse as Napoleon Bonaparte, the impressionist movement, the ravages of World War I, and the demands for decolonization. Prerequisite: French 222. MOISAN.
