An introduction to physical chemistry that emphasizes experimental and theoretical aspects of chemical thermodynamics, chemical and physical equilibrium, and kinetics. Three classes, one laboratory each week. Prerequisite: CHM-221, one additional chemistry course at the 200-level, and MAT-131 and MAT-133 or STA-209 or STA-230, (Students who have AP/IB credit for MAT-131 need to complete MAT-133 at Grinnell) and Physics 131 or equivalent, and completion of or concurrent registration in Physics 132 or equivalent; with grades S, C, or better.
