Catalog description
This course introduces the core principles of sociolinguistics and explores language varieties, use, and related social and cultural meaning and context, including dialects, style, register, language status, and development and current use of word variance of English. Coursework emphasizes the practical application of relevant theories, research, and principles to both linguistic research and any ESL pedagogical context. Prerequisite: LNG 2100 Introduction to Linguistics.
