Catalog description

This course covers the structures, institutions, and ideas that shape and constrain the conditions of family and child life, and the impact of these contextual factors on particular children and families. Critical evaluation of the assumptions about families and children that underlie beliefs and actions and the assessment of the utility of theories currently at work in the field are emphasized.
