Catalog description

Examines social issues and social work practice settings that are related to the law and legal systems. Specifically, this class will consider practice settings and topics within the juvenile and criminal legal systems, child welfare, mental illness, and various forms of violence. Using social and economic justice frameworks and a human rights perspective, this course will focus on the specific settings in which forensic social workers may work, the types of social issues to which they might respond, pertinent criminal and civil legal issues, and their impact on vulnerable populations.
