Catalog description

This course prepares future educators to cultivate inclusive reading environments for high school ELA students. Candidates will learn to understand diverse adolescent learners, their identities, and reading processes. Candidates will learn to craft coherent, standards-aligned, and anti-racist/anti-bias reading instruction using diverse texts, resources, and technologies. Throughout the course, candidates will apply theories to differentiate their reading instruction, fostering student engagement and effectively meeting the diverse learning needs of students. Candidates will also learn how to select / design reading assessments based on current literacy research.
