Explores developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood education. Analyzes instructional strategies, curriculum, and learning environments as they relate to research-based early childhood teaching practices. Examines current trends and research in early childhood education, including culturally relevant teaching practices. Provides experiences to create developmentally appropriate activities, write lesson plans, develop objectives, and explore standards. Includes opportunities to work with innovative technology and practice presentation skills. Focuses on professionalism, including professional development, dispositions, writing and communication skills. This is a writing intensive course as outlined in the framework of the junior seminar for the university.
