Catalog description

Addresses federal and state regulations which govern counseling, with attention to addictions counseling. We review the ethical guidelines for professional practice from the American Counseling Association, explore professional issues related to counselor identity, including professionalism development, communication, professionalism, and effective case management. Special attention on substance use ethics is given as well as the use of self-help groups with substance-abusing clients.
