This course examines the theoretical perspectives, origins and history of sociology. Students will be challenged to do research and to think critically in examining cultural issues in American society and the world. Topics include: human SOCIization, macro- and micro-sociological perspectives of SOCI structure, class, status, stereotypes, groups, norms, and deviance. It examines the impacts of technology, mass media, SOCI inequality, gender, marriage, family, and SOCI change. Prerequisite: None. Offered: F, Sp, Su.
